Dharma

The code of right conduct or righteousness as the sustaining and balancing factor of ecology and evolution.

Kundalini

A latent energy that lies coiled at the base of the spine. When awakened, this benevolent, nurturing energy passes upward through the nerve plexuses in the body and comes out of the top of the head at the fontanelle bone area. One can feel this energy as a cool breeze above the head, as well as in the palms of the hands.

Sahaja Yoga

Sahaja means "born with you" - saha is "with", ja is "born." Shri Mataji explains – "Sahaja also means 'spontaneous,' because this is the living power that works it out. There is a living power within us which has made us into human beings from the stage of amoeba. And now there is another residual power which has to connect us to the Divine. This is the real meaning of the word Yoga. And every human being has a right to get united to that all-pervading power. So this is the last breakthrough of our evolution."

Sahaja Yoga Meditation

The technique which sustains the experience of 'self-realization' (the awakening of the Kundalini). Through Sahaja Yoga meditation, one can connect with one's true Self as well as reach a state of thoughtless awareness - both of these being the actualization of 'yoga' or 'union'. With regular practice, one can establish this state of thoughtless awareness and achieve spiritual growth.

Sahasrara

The seventh energy centre located on the fontanelle, on top of the head. It is through this point that the Kundalini energy passes bringing about the state of thoughtless awareness.

Self

In the tradition of spirituality it is said that in you resides the power to get your self-realization, to get to your Self. Shri Mataji explains that the truth is – we are not this body, we are not this mind, we are not this ego, we are not these conditionings. Self is the pure spirit within each one of us. It is the Self which emits. It is the Self that gives the glory. It is the Self which gives all the blessings of pure love, security and help that is deserved by each person.

Self-Realization

Actualized union of individual consciousness with the pure and direct awareness of the nature of the Self and of the Divine. It is not the end point of spiritual evolution, but rather a true beginning. Self-Realization opens the path for development by eliminating all identification with falsehood, allowing the Kundalini to flow freely, establishing a true connection with divine power, thus awakening all inborn self-correcting powers within the individual.

Spirit

The reflection of the Divine within everyone, the true or pure Self. After self-realization, the Spirit can be perceived and felt in our attention.

Subtle System

The Subtle System is the network of Energy Centers and channels through which your Inner Energy flows. Meditation with Sahaja Yoga helps you learn to feel, understand and ultimately use, the Subtle System to improve health, balance and well being. This process is all started by awakening the your Inner Energy, known as Kundalini.

Thoughtless Awareness

A state of heightened awareness when the mind is relaxed yet alert. Unwanted mental activity ceases, allowing the attention to focus on the present moment. Stress and fatigue most often derive from thinking about the past or the future. When thoughts are quietened, the natural healing power of one's nervous system is triggered, restoring energy, balance and health.

Vibrations

All living beings are a combination of particles and waves that emit some form of vibration, whether positive or negative. Positive vibrations are benevolent and nourishing. After self-realization, positive vibrations can be felt on the central nervous system as a cool breeze in the palms of the hands and above the fontanelle bone area. "Vibrations are nothing but Divine love." Shri Mataji

Yoga

Contrary to popular belief, Yoga does not designate a series of exercises or postures, but in fact means 'to join, to unite'. An early reference to Yoga can be found in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, a compilation of aphorisms from the 2nd century BCE in India.
